Should Your Child Keep Dancing Through Exams?

22 October 2026 2 min read Kryptonite Dance Academy

If you are weighing up whether to pause classes through the exam block, keep the class and cut something else.

An hour away from the desk

A child who has sat still for six hours is not thinking well in the seventh. Movement brings attention back faster than a phone does, and a dance class asks for movement, timing and memory at the same time. The body is working and the mind is busy with something that is not the next paper.

Sleep is usually what goes first in exam season. A hard class at 17:00 is one reason a dancer is tired enough to sleep at 21:00 instead of lying awake rehearsing.

What we see in the room

Students who keep their weekly class through exams tend to come back sharper than the ones who stop for three weeks. The ones who stop lose more than fitness. They lose the routine, and restarting is harder than continuing.

The class is also the one hour a week where they are not a candidate. That matters more than parents expect.

Keep it small if the month is tight

A Kidz class is two hours a week: Group A on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00, Group B on Fridays at 16:00 or Saturdays at 10:30.

The 13+ classes run on Friday from 17:00 and on Saturday across three levels. If the monthly fee is a problem for a short block, a drop-in session is R200 and keeps the body moving.

If your child wants to start now

Beginners enrol directly. There is no evaluation to sit and no experience needed. Classes run Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 69 Freight Road, Louwlardia, Centurion.

Message 082 572 9407 and we will tell you which class fits around the exam timetable. Fees and times are on the classes page.
