Kids Dance Classes in Centurion: Ages 7 to 12

Your child does not need any dance experience to start at Kryptonite. They need comfortable clothes, trainers and a water bottle. Everything else we teach.

The kids programme runs in Centurion for ages 7 to 12, and it draws on the five styles we teach: hip hop, house, breaking, amapiano and popping. Classes are built for bodies that are still growing, so the warm-up matters as much as the choreography.

Two groups, same programme

Group A trains Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00 to 18:00. This is the core class, built around choreography and stage performance.

Group B trains Fridays from 16:00 to 17:00 and Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30. It suits families who want a weekend slot, or a dancer who wants more time on the floor.

Both groups learn the same foundations. A child in Group B on a Saturday is not on a slower track.

What a class looks like

Warm-up, then technique, then choreography. The technique is where the real work sits: bouncing to a beat, isolating shoulders and chest, holding a freeze, landing a step on the count rather than near it. Choreography is how they use it.

We keep the room loud and the corrections kind. A seven-year-old told they are wrong forty times in an hour stops trying. One who is shown the same step four different ways keeps going.

What parents notice

Most of what parents report back is not about dance. It is a child who sits still for homework, or who volunteers to go first, or who stops apologising for taking up space. Learning a routine, practising it weekly and performing it in front of an audience does that.

The academy holds a showcase where every student performs. For many of them it is the first time they have been on a stage with the lights on.

Cost and times

R1,000 a month, plus a once-off R250 registration fee. That covers the weekly class or classes in your group.
